The challenge
Since May 2025 I’ve been editing at Hatch, a video agency that runs video podcasts and short-form content for B2B brands such as Signifyd, Kraken, Exit Five, Expel, Teal, TikTok Shop, Tropic, LCVista and Curative. Podcasts, interviews, DTC and social for YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok. A typical request is a full episode plus three clips, delivered in two to three days, with several requests every week.
How I work
Hatch runs like a production line, with a team of more than 40 people and workflows already in place. I joined that pipeline and learned its tools:
- Trello for briefs and deliveries, and Frame.io for client review, with notes pinned to the frame.
- LucidLink as the shared drive: the whole team cuts from the same footage without downloading it.
- Riverside recordings: a separate audio and video track for each guest, which makes the multicam edit clean.
- Descript for text-based rough cuts and transcript checks.
- Firecut.ai to switch between cameras on multicam footage, and Submachine inside Premiere Pro to automate other repetitive steps, so the time goes into story and pacing.
- MOGRTs: I worked with the team’s existing templates for captions, lower thirds and end cards, and built my own in After Effects when a show needed something new.
Each episode becomes a package. The full edit goes out in 16:9 for YouTube and LinkedIn, and the best 30 to 60 seconds of a long conversation become standalone clips in 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Every brand has its own look, so the same week can mean a fintech explainer, a security podcast and a marketing interview.
